Taiki Town
The Rekifune River, the clearest stream in Japan, flows exclusively through the town of Taiki from the Hidaka Mountains before pouring into the Pacific Ocean. Taiki is blessed with beautiful nature and wild flower gardens stretch along its coasts. People and dreams grow bigger in “Taiki, the town of cosmos”. The town flower is the cosmos whose name means “universe” in English. The town of Taiki is receiving attention as the site of a future spaceport. With its waters shown to be the cleanest in Japan on 12 occasions by the Ministry of the Environment’s water quality survey, the Rekifune River is adored by canoeists. Carp streamers can be seen swimming in the skies in the spring and visitors can try their hands at gold panning even today. Located along the coastline of Taiki is a wild flower garden where beach roses and Siberian lupins grow, Bansei Onsen where guests can enjoy a hot spring bath while gazing out at the Pacific Ocean, and Oikamanaito where marine sports can be enjoyed. Surrounded by massive oak trees, Hakurin Park is also a peaceful spot.
