Shikaoi Town
Lake Shikaribetsu, the only natural lake located within Daisetsu National Park, has a lake level of 800 meters making it the lake with the highest elevation in the prefecture of Hokkaido. Visitors to Shikaoi can refresh their bodies and minds by visiting Kanda Nissho Memorial Museum of Art and enjoying experiences such as horseback riding at the riding park, hands-on farming, and rural restaurants and farm inns. Also, as its motto “Shikaoi, a town of flowers* indicates, an abundance of flowers can be found throughout the town.
Be sure to check out some of the town’s specialties such as soba noodles and Dolly Varden trout.
