Shihoro Town
The town of Shihoro is a pure farming village blessed with the bounties of nature. In addition to raising potatoes, wheat, and beans, the town also has a thriving dairy and beef cattle industry and produces many specialty items using these local ingredients. The barbecue houses, lookouts, lodges, cottages, and campsites inside Shihoro Highlands Nupuka Village in the southernmost edge of Daisetsuzan National Park that look out over vast farms, are also nice. The scenic café is also a popular spot. Shihoro Spa Plaza Ryokufu, a moor (peat) hot spring resort, is located in the Shimooribe area on the eastern side of town. The popular resort is located near Choyo Park where fireflies fly and features a park golf course. The “Pia 21 Shihoro” roadside rest area located along Japan National Route 241 is also popular with tourists.
